Launch Time: Walk the Talk

Blog by Linda Weir on the eve of the launch of her company’s website. May 31, 2016. Time to walk the talk. Time to take the leap of faith. Time to birth this new business, my new corporation (and only one, ever!) – Expedition Inner Wisdom Inc. For years now, I’ve been telling anyone who would listen, “To be truly happy, to live your dreams, to be the best version of you, you have got to find what the fizz in your ginger ale is and then spend your time feeding that passion.” I have loved being an educator, feeling so grateful to possess the honour of leading others through some of their learning experiences, but the lessons that I have excited me most are the ones frequently not written about in curriculum guidelines. The lessons I loved grew out of soul work and those moments of heart-to-heart human connection where tears would well up in my eyes. The tears, now, are always a true indicator to me that I have touched on a profound heart-centred, raw-soul moment! For years, I was too busy feeling embarrassed by my tears to notice what significant gauges they were of life’s most important connections to self and to others. Eventually, I embraced my

genuine love and compassion? With Expedition Inner Wisdom I have found a “curriculum” that is consciousness based and soul-driven and, hence, works towards awakening one’s sacred potential – helping people find the fizz in their own ginger ale! The birthing of this company has had but one guiding principle – working on this project must be fun for me and fun for others. Nothing less than a win/win will suffice. I needed this business adventure to provide me with a venue for sharing, without the restrictions of traditional learning institutions, my passion for teaching wellness, and I needed it to empower the souls who were drawn to it. Last year, when I attended the free, small-business workshop at the London Small Business Centre, the facilitator said, “So the only reason to start a business is to make money.” A grimace immediately crossed my face. Surely, there were more reasons than that and more people than myself who had a sincere interest in creating a business that served a higher purpose. There was. A young man sitting close to me spoke up and posed the question that suggested that another reason for starting up a company might be for the benefit of the environment’s well-being. Yes! I was not alone. He didn’t know it (until after the meeting when I sought him out to tell him), but he had inspired me, and I took his words as confirmation that I was headed down the right path – I wanted to take all I had learned in life and turn it into a business that empowered people, that gave people a way of accessing their own magnificence waiting ever-patiently inside of them, that grew people’s ability to live a joyful life and their sense of connectedness to others, to nature, and to consciousness itself. Courage has been required! Stepping out into this social media land rocks the comfort level of my world! Every time technology has come along over the decades knocking at my door, I have always reached to insert the human element into its pathway. Tweets, blogs, websites, passwords, and the likes have intimidated me greatly: it’s a land of foreign languages, but I found myself a technology guru who clearly has been heaven-sent. He has pushed me past my fear into the space of delicious discomfort, and here I am happily blogging away in a state of pretty yummy delight. Here I am trying something new, trying something I always thought would be cool. And it is. I am walking the talk and finding the joy in nurturing the fizz in my ginger ale. I pushed past the “you can’t do it’s” and the “you should do that’s” and stayed true to my heart’s desire, and it’s feelin’ pretty darn good already. So that’s a win, but I’m after the win/win, so what remains is to see what I can do for you. What qualities within you need awakening, and might I be the one to help you do that? Whether I become a part of your journey or not, may your awareness inward grow as you come to embrace and love the perfect expression of nature that you are. Namaste.
